Picante

There is something about a craving that makes you go a little crazy.  Especially with food: until that special something touches your taste buds, it is hard to even concentrate.

Within my first month at UNISG, picante was calling my name. The problem was where to find it, as spicy is not really Italian, at least not how I know it.  Luckily my foodie classmates had that already covered (thanks Kate), and after some days of waiting, the Saturday Farmer’s Market on Via D’Azeglio changed my life. Salsa Rossa Piccantissima made by La Bottega di Ca’ d’Alfieri became my new hot Italian fixation. To tell you the truth, I was obsessed, and we had a great time together with cheese, pasta, scrambled eggs, quesadillas, soup, crackers, piadine, salad dressings, stir-fry’s, focaccia, tramezzini, baked potatoes…anything! It was breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. We had a connection. Sadly, our relationship ended in just one week, and between you and me, I was ready for a break.
