Master of Italian Gastronomy and Tourism
The deadline for applications to the 2009-10 edition of the master of Italian Gastronomy and Tourism is August 26, 2009. Apply now!

Master of Food Culture and Communications
Applications for the 2010-11 edition of the master of Food Culture and Communications will open online June 19, 2009. The submission deadline is December 11, 2009 and acceptance announcements will be made December 16, 2009. The program begins March 10, 2010. For more information, visit the program web page.

International Conference on Food Policy and Sustainability
From September 11 to 13, 2009, a three-day program will be held at the UNISG Pollenzo campus, examining the themes of food production, sustainability, and ecology. Open to all those working in the field—entrepreneurs, teachers, students, and other organizational representatives—the conference will be led by such policy and sustainability experts as Eric Holt-Gimenez, Tim Lang, Luca Mercalli, Loretta Napoleoni, Clara Nicholls, Raj Patel, Ezio Pelizzetti, Carlo Petrini, Vandana Shiva, Nancy Turner, and Richard Wilk. North American Information Sessions
A ten-week series of information sessions in the U.S. and Canada wrapped up on April 30, with a final presentation at Boston's NonProfit Center, co-hosted by Slow Food Boston. UNISG staff and alumni met with over 700 prospective students in 16 cities during the course of the tour, explaining the university's educational design and programs of study.

Enology Professor Ann Noble at UNISG
Ann Noble, professor emeritus of enology from the Dept. of Viticulture and Enology at the University of California, Davis, returned to UNISG May 25-29 in Pollenzo, and June 4-5 in Colorno, to give her course “The Sensory Evaluation of Wine." Read more...

Bees and Agriculture – May 5, 2009
As part of the “Lessons on Good, Clean and Fair” series, Anna Trisciani, researcher in the Dept. of Environmental Sciences at the Unviersity of Siena, presented Bees and Agriculture: A Binary System to be Preserved – From the Global Collapse of Beehives to the Growing Agricultural Use of Harmful Substances in Response to Market Needs. A honey tasting followed the lecture, presented in collaboration with the Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity and its network of high-quality producers.

Mondovino Director Jonathan Nossiter – May 12, 2009
UNISG and the Banca del Vino welcomed Mondovino director Jonathan Nossiter, author of Taste & Power: The Wine World Wars, for a talk entitled: Is Another Wine Possible? Issues of Wine, Justice, and Liberty.

The Cuisine of the Heritage of Tradition – May 12, 2009
UNISG hosted a one-day conference dedicated to the “Cuisine of the Heritage of Tradition,” over the course of which anthropologists and scholars demonstrated how traditional food production, and the cultivation and culture of food, represent an ever-greater resource for defining and validating identity and sustainable development in specific regions.

UNISG Open House – May 16, 2009
The third and final open house of the year took place in Pollenzo on May 16th, with 36 prospective students and their families attending. Carlo Petrini and UNISG dean Valter Cantino presented the university's offerings, following which the attendees had the chance to talk with staff and current students.
